In the interest of getting this blog rolling, I am going to give a one-sentence review of the books I have read this year for my book clubs (yes, nerd that I am, I am in TWO book clubs--a young adult (YA) book club and a staff book club (reading regular adult titles).
I will end with a green light, yellow light, or red light. Green light means "READ THIS BOOK!" whereas a yellow light means "Read this if you have the time or are bored on a long plane ride." and a red light means "Don't waste time reading this unless you are REALLY SUPER BORED or are fond of one of the following problems: unintelligible plot, flat characters, stereotypes as characterization, poor writing." There is a special category of light, the "broken light" which means "Not only do not waste your time on this book, hurl this atrocious dreck off a cliff. How did this even get published?" (Very, very few books will have this issue, but we've all read a few books that were so bad, we were angry that we wasted our time reading them.)
